The Radiation Therapist delivers prescribed radiation treatments while ensuring patient safety, accurate documentation, and high-quality imaging. They also provide patient education, maintain equipment, and collaborate with the oncology team to ensure smooth department operations.
Candidates must have graduated from a formal radiation therapy program and hold current ARRT(T) certification and a Washington State Radiologic Technologist-Therapeutic license. Proficiency with linear accelerators and simulation software is highly desired, along with excellent communication skills.
Graduation from a formal radiation therapy program required, JCERT approved preferred. High school graduate or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Must be ARRT registry eligible upon hire. ARRT(T) certification required on start date. Annual renewal of ARRT(T) required by Overlake Hospital, with evidence of same by primary source verification. Washington State License as a Radiologic Technologist-Therapeutic. Washington State Licensure as a Radiologic Technologist-Therapeutic is required on start date. Biannual renewal of RT-Therapeutic state license required by DOH and Overlake Hospital, with evidence of same by primary source verification. Current healthcare provider CPR is required. Six months’ previous radiation therapy experience preferred. Experience with: Varian True Beam and Trilogy linear accelerators, ARIA software system, GE CT simulator, and Varian Acuity digital simulator desired. Requires 24 CME credits every two years per ARRT mandate. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to convey a positive and professional image in person, on the telephone and in correspondence, which includes maintaining confidentiality at all times and being aware of the need for privacy when discussing personal matters with a patient.
