The Nursing Assistant provides direct patient care, assists with safe patient transport, and performs clerical duties to support the nursing unit. They also act as an observer for patients requiring constant safety monitoring.
Candidates must hold a Certified Nurse Aide license in Kentucky and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous hospital experience and basic life support certification are preferred.
Overview To provide the services of a sitter for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation in order to maximize his or her safety. Performs a variety of routine duties to assist in the delivery of patient care.
CPR certification is preferred. Formal training or equivalent experience such as, nursing assistant, C.N.A., EMT preferred. The ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately. Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals. Knowledge of basic medical terminology and basic computer knowledge is preferred. Previous hospital or nursing home experience also preferred. Ability to move or lift patients and equipment.
