The Staff Nurse provides direct professional nursing care to pediatric patients and their families throughout their episode of service. They are responsible for planning care in accordance with clinical standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements.
Candidates must hold an Associate degree in Nursing (ASN) and a current Connecticut Registered Nurse license. Additional requirements include BLS/CPR certification and the ability to complete Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training.
Under general supervision, assumes 24-hour accountability to plan and provide direct professional nursing care for specified patients throughout the entire episode of service delivery as defined by population and unit. Provides nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the standards of practice of a professional nurse, Connecticut Children’s policies & procedures, Joint Commission, and State & federal regulations. Reports to Nurse Manager.

MS8 is a team oriented, fast paced, 27 bed, inpatient floor. Our team works closely with multiple specialty areas to provide compassionate care, innovative treatment options, and novel clinical therapies to children and young adults affected by cancer and blood disorders. Our staff are provided a strong foundation for caring for this population by offering both Hem/Onc Foundations classes and Chemotherapy/Biotherapy classes. We value continuity of care and build strong relationships with our patients and their families.
