The Pharmacist is responsible for processing and dispensing medications while providing clinical pharmaceutical care to improve patient outcomes. They also manage pharmacy operations, maintain inventory, and assist in the training of pharmacy staff and students.
Requirements summary
Candidates must hold a degree in Pharmacy and possess a current Virginia pharmacist license. Two years of experience is preferred, and applicants must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
Required to be physically onsite to maintain critical operations. Must make every effort to report onsite during closures or delays unless released by leadership. May be required to work modified or extended shifts.
Job summary
The Pharmacist is assigned to the UMT pharmacies of the Upper Mattaponi Tribe Health System in Virginia. The Pharmacist ensures access to the safe and effective use of medications.
Primary duties & responsibilities
Process and dispense medications in a local, community-focused pharmacy setting.
Practice in a true pharmaceutical care environment, apply clinical knowledge and skills to improve outcomes.
Monitor patient drug therapies, advising interventions, and inform patients of potential side effects.
Instruct patients how and when to take prescribed medications.
Complete operational requirements of the pharmacy, including verifying order entries, maintaining records of controlled substances, charges, and pharmacy inventory management.
Adhere to applicable legal rules, regulations, and procedures governing pharmaceutical practice.

Distribute function assignments and assist in management of pharmacy operations.

Contribute to continuous total quality improvement activities for the pharmacy department.

Qualification requirements
Degree in Pharmacy
Current Virginia pharmacist license
Knowledge, skills, and abilities requirements
Demonstrate good mathematical and computer skills, able to learn pharmacy operating systems.
Work closely with others. Contribute to maintaining a creative and positive work environment.
Demonstrate knowledge of federal and state laws related to pharmacy practice.
Education and/Or experience
Two (2) years as a licensed pharmacist preferred, new graduates considered.
Current Virginia pharmacist license required.
PGY-1 Residency preferred.
