MultiCare Health System is seeking a Surgical Oncology Physician Assistant to join our well-established, thriving and comprehensive practice. Practicing within a Commission on Cancer (CoC)-accredited comprehensive cancer program, you’ll play a vital role in delivering patient-centered, evidence-based care as part of a multidisciplinary oncology team.Responsibilities
First assist in surgical procedures and provide perioperative care.
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including histories and physical exams.
Supports surgical oncologists in both inpatient and outpatient settings, contributing to improved access, continuity, and outcomes for oncology patients.
On call for practice and ER as needed for the practice.
Independently manages hospital-based care and outpatients.
Has specialized training or practice focused on surgical oncology.
Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with surgical oncologists.
Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests and imaging.
Coordinates patient care with other specialties.
Supervises RN and MAs in the treatment of surgical patients.
Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, procedures, and recovery.
Participate in tumor boards, care conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
Document all patient interactions and clinical decisions in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Stay current with best practices, emerging therapies, and clinical guidelines through continuing education and training.
