The Senior Day Program Counselor provides direct personal care, support, and supervision to individuals with developmental disabilities. They are responsible for implementing day program plans, documenting services, and promoting community inclusion and independence.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent with at least one year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities. An associate degree or two years of college may be substituted for the experience requirement, and the ability to lift 50 pounds is mandatory.

Senior Day Program Counselors will provide full support to individuals including; dining, lifting, direct personal care, development and implementation of activities, supervision/oversight of individuals to ensure that they are carrying out their goals.
Responsible for accurately documenting and providing services to the individuals they support Promote independence and community inclusion Responsible for the implementation of the day program plans, opportunities for self-determination, independent activity, increased productivity and greater community inclusion May function as a Team Leader for each individual assigned May be responsible for the direction of all staff assigned to that program area Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent is required A minimum of one (1) year of job related experience is required, specifically working with people with developmental disabilities or related field A minimum of an Associate’s degree or two completed years of college may be considered in lieu of the 1 year experience Must be at least 18 years old and able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds to apply for this position If you are employed by a U.S Federal, State, Local or Tribal Government or Not-for-Profit organization, you may be eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program that is funded by New York State. *To learn more about this program and New York State eligibility requirements, please visit https://studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/public-service.
