The therapist facilitates meaningful, trauma-informed visits between children in out-of-home placements and their families to promote bonding and safety. They also conduct biopsychosocial assessments and collaborate with stakeholders to create tailored visit plans that address behavioral health needs.
Candidates must hold a Master's degree in counseling, psychology, or social work and possess an active New Jersey license (LAC, LSW, LMFT, LPC, or LCSW). At least one year of experience working with children and families involved in the child welfare system is required.
Work as part of a supportive team in facilitating visits which enhance parent-child interactions and attachment, ensuring the safety and emotional well-being of children. Address behavioral health needs and empower parents to meet their children’s physical, developmental, and emotional needs through meaningful visits. Conduct biopsychosocial intake assessments, primarily in the parent’s homes, to determine family strengths, needs, and create tailored visit plans. Ensure the safety of children by modeling appropriate interactions between parents and children during visits. Facilitate collaborative visit planning meetings with parents, visit participants, and relevant stakeholders to align on goals and strategies. Implement evidence-based services and adjust intervention strategies as needed to align with family goals. Collaborate with peers, DCP&P, and other community providers to ensure continuity of care and support for the family. Assist, as needed, in transporting clients to / from visit locations. Complete necessary documentation in line with program and agency requirements.
Master's degree in counseling, psychology or social work Must have an active NJ license (LAC, LSW, LMFT, LPC, LCSW) or be in process of obtaining it. Must have a minimum of one year of experience working with children and families, particularly families involved with the child welfare system and/or affected by trauma. Strong knowledge of child development, attachment, and behavioral health needs. Ability to facilitate positive interactions and work collaboratively with families. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Previous experience working with DCP&P or similar agencies is a plus. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, use of an insured vehicle and an acceptable driving record and reliable transportation.
