The Medical Assistant assists physicians in the delivery of primary health care and patient case management. They are responsible for performing both clinical and administrative functions within the clinic setting.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and a vocational/technical diploma from an accredited medical assistant program. A valid medical assistant certification (AAMA, AMT, NCCT, or CCMA) is also required.
Under the direct supervision of the physician(s) in the clinic, the Certified Medical Assistant assists in the delivery of primary health care and patient case management. The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting the physician in clinical and administrative functions.
