The Surgical Technician position is part of the Surgery Department and is a full-time role working 80 hours per two-week pay period. Standard working hours are 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with flexible scheduling to meet departmental needs and includes call, weekend, and holiday responsibilities as needed. The Surgical Technician provides high-quality perioperative support while maintaining patient safety, teamwork, and professionalism across all surgical procedures.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent experience
  • BLS certification required
  • Previous operating room experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrates initiative, enthusiasm, and professionalism
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines
  • Calm under pressure, independent thinker, and committed to exceptional patient care and customer service
  • Key responsibilities
  • Provide perioperative support within the Surgery Department and assist other departments as needed
  • Perform all duties of a surgical scrub technician, including maintaining a sterile field, handling specimens properly, and assisting practitioners during procedures
  • Maintain proficiency in central supply and sterilization procedures and techniques
  • Assist in managing and maintaining surgical supplies and equipment
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless, high-quality patient care
  • Support teamwork, safety, and professional standards in the perioperative environment

Requirements

Candidates must be graduates of an accredited surgical technology program or possess equivalent experience and hold a BLS certification. Previous operating room experience is strongly preferred along with strong communication and collaboration skills.
