The Surgical Technologist serves as a member of the surgical team by preparing equipment and instruments while providing safe, quality care during procedures. They are responsible for maintaining a clean operating room suite and ensuring accurate documentation of surgical records.

The Surgical Technologist (certified or licensed) serves as a member of the surgical team, responds to patient needs, prepares / maintains resources (e.g., equipment, instruments, supplies) & provides safe, quality health care services & / or assistance for surgical procedures in accordance with level of experience, education, policies / procedures / protocols & standards.

Functional Role (not inclusive of titles or advancement career progression)
Licensed or certified role (direct healthcare) that supports the total peri-operative process; Provides intra-operative patient care to patients as directed by the Director of Nursing / Medical Director / Quality Committee(s); Anticipates surgeon’s needs in the use of medical supplies, instrumentation & equipment availability & readiness; Maintains a safe & clean operating room suite; Assists & / or ensures documentation & detailed records are kept; Performs essential duties & techniques appropriate to role / function / procedure; Participates in quality improvement processes; May serve as a resource (lead), role model & / or mentor.
High School diploma or GED; Current certification from accredited Surgical Technology program; At least one (1) year experience in a health care or military medical setting; Meets requirements for applicable state(s) of engagement.
