About the role

The Medical Technologist is responsible for performing, recording, and analyzing laboratory testing procedures while ensuring accurate and prompt reporting of patient results. They must also maintain laboratory records, participate in quality programs, and communicate pending work status between shifts.

Medical Laboratory Technician

Full time, 5: 30pm-7:00am – 3 days a week with weekend rotations

Prepares, performs and records testing procedures in accordance with established criteria as assigned with any or all the sections of the Clinical Laboratory.

Job Duties

  • Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
  • Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the coordinator.
  • Participate in Laboratory Quality program. Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
  • Perform tasks at an acceptable pace to ensure the prompt reporting of accurate patient results. Communicates the status of pending work to the on-coming shift.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree of applied science in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or related science.

Preferred Requirements

• Certification as MLT (AMT), MLS (ASCP), CLT (NCA) or equivalent preferred.
