The Senior Physical Therapist performs patient evaluations and executes therapeutic treatments for all age groups while serving as a clinical resource for staff. They also assist management in developing new programs and ensuring high-quality care delivery within the department.
Candidates must have graduated from an accredited physical therapy school and possess at least two years of previous experience. A valid Physical Therapist License and BLS AHA Basic Health Care Life Support certification are required.
A day in the life of a Senior Physical Therapist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes: Performs all functions associated with the evaluation of patients for all age groups within the department's responsibility. Performs all functions associated with the execution of therapeutic treatment for all age groups within the department's responsibility. Completes all documentation required within the regarded timeline according to department. Serves as clinical resources in case management to all non-senior physical therapists on staff. Assists department management in the development, coordinator and implementation of new programs that will enhance the department's scope of services to service the needs of the community Provides department management feedback regarding procedural, programmatic and staff concerns. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.) This process includes communicating with the patient, parent and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.). Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
Qualifications: Education,
Required: Graduation from an accredited physical therapy school. 5 years previous experience. Licenses and Certifications Required: Physical Therapist License. BLS AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification. Working Conditions: Lifts a minimum of 50 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 100 lbs., and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.
