The Lactation Consultant provides expert breastfeeding education and consultation to mothers at Alta Bates Medical Center. They are responsible for assessing maternal and infant needs to help patients achieve their individual breastfeeding goals.
Candidates must be a Registered Nurse in California with Basic Life Support certification and a Certified Lactation Educator credential. An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification is required within two years of employment.
EDUCATION Graduate from an accredited school of nursing Required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE RN-Registered Nurse of California Required BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Required CLE-Certified Lactation Educator Required IBCLC-International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, within 2 years of employment Required EXPERIENCE Minimum of two years of experience in perinatal nursing or perinatal education Preferred. Minimum two years of experience counseling breastfeeding women Preferred. Pay Range is $86.68 to $114.41 / hour The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled.
