The Neurodiagnostic Technologist performs advanced neurodiagnostic studies, including nerve conduction studies and assisting physicians with needle EMG and EEG procedures.   • www.aikenphysicians.com POSITION SUMMARY The Neurodiagnostic Technologist performs advanced neurodiagnostic studies to include Nerve Conduction Studies. This position is responsible for assisting the physician during needle EMG and EEG studies, to include the clerical duties associated with these procedures. Procedures may be performed on adolescent through geriatric aged patients in the exam room of physician practice. Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, Licensure, Training & Travel Requirements Education

  • Graduate of an Electro neurodiagnostic technology program. Certification in neurodiagnostics from accredited school. College level courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology preferred. Must take and pass a basic arrhythmia course. BLS certification by the AHA required.
  • Work
  • Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in nerve conduction studies and assisting physicians with neurodiagnostic studies is required.

Knowledge

Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, math and electronics Specific knowledge of peripheral nervous system, muscles and neuromuscular diseases. Precise identification of waveforms and artifacts, knowledge of conduction velocity, amplitude and latency values. Must be proficient in medical terminology.

  • Must successfully demonstrate neurodiagnostic competencies required. Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills Strong technical ability Analytical skills, adaptability, patience and attention to detail
