The Speech Therapist is responsible for evaluating, planning, and implementing treatment for patients with speech, language, cognition, and swallowing disorders. They also assist in developing and implementing new programs to enhance departmental services.
Candidates must hold a master's degree in speech-language pathology and possess an active state license and ASHA certification. At least one year of hospital experience and current BLS certification are required.
Responsible for the evaluation, treatment planning and implementation of treatment for patients demonstrating disorders of speech, language, cognition, swallowing and other services prescribed by a physician. Assists in developing and implementing new and ongoing programs beneficial for the enhancement of the department.
Education and Work Experience 1. Graduate of an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in speech-language pathology required.2. Active license to practice speech language pathology in the state of anticipated employment, free of disciplinary action required.3. Active Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), free of disciplinary action – OR - Speech Language Pathology Clinical Fellow (SLP-CFs) to be considered on a case-by-case basis (provided proper supervision can be afforded to the CF) required.4. At least one year of experience in a hospital setting.5.
