Position Overview

Wellstar Medical Group is seeking a skilled and compassionate Outpatient Psychiatrist to join our dynamic team at the North Cobb location. This is a full-time position where you will provide high-quality psychiatric care to a diverse patient population. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, a commitment to evidence-based practice, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient
  • Care: Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment for adult patients with a wide range of mental health disorders, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, and more.
  • Treatment
  • Planning: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that may include medication management, psychotherapy, or other therapeutic interventions.
  • Medication
  • Management: Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, monitoring for efficacy and side effects, and adjusting treatment as needed.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, social workers, nurses, and primary care physicians, to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes using Wellstar’s electronic medical record system (Epic).
  • Patient
  • Education: Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for managing symptoms.
  • Crisis
  • Intervention: Provide crisis intervention services as needed, including risk assessment and management of patients with suicidal or homicidal ideation.
  • Consultation: Offer psychiatric consultations to other medical professionals within the Wellstar system, providing expertise on complex cases.
  • Professional
  • Development: Stay current with advancements in psychiatry by participating in continuing education, attending relevant conferences, and engaging in peer consultations.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all regulatory and accreditation standards, as well as Wellstar policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Education: MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Training: Completed residency in Psychiatry from an accredited program.
  • Licensure: Current and unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Georgia.
  • Board Certification: Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry.
  • Experience: Prior experience in outpatient psychiatric care is preferred but not required.
  • Skills: Strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in using electronic medical records (Epic experience preferred).

Requirements

Candidates must hold an MD or DO degree and have completed an accredited psychiatry residency program. A current, unrestricted medical license in Georgia and board certification or eligibility in psychiatry are required.
