The Provider Medical Assistant works alongside physicians to provide nursing functions, including interviewing patients, recording medical information, and assisting with exams. They are also responsible for administering injections, coordinating prescriptions, and maintaining clean, well-stocked exam rooms.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in OB/GYN or primary care. A current Medical Assistant Certification is required or must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
Description VPFW is hiring full-time Provider Medical Assistants to join our clinical department and float across office locations. A provider medical assistant works side-by-side with a physician to provide nursing functions using established procedures and standards to assist with OB/GYN patient appointments and procedures.
Essential Functions: Interview new patients and record patient information Assist with patient exams and procedures Request diagnostic testing and communicate results to patient in a timely manner Stock and clean exam rooms Ensure all required written forms, computer documentation, and patient medical records are completed in a timely manner Administer injections and medications Coordinate prescription orders with pharmacy and patient Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of clinical techniques Ability to function effectively as a team member Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to collaborate with physicians, staff, and management Ability to perform effectively in stressful situations Ability to manage multiple priorities Flexibility to travel across multiple office locations Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent Minimum 2 years clinical experience (preferred OB/GYN or primary care concentration) required Certifications/Licensure: Current Medical Assistant Certification or ability to obtain it within 12 months of employment
