About the role

The Emergency Department Physician is responsible for providing high-quality emergency medical care to patients while maintaining ethical standards and hospital protocols. They must also participate in medical staff affairs, ensure compliance with federal regulations like EMTALA, and maintain professional relationships with patients and staff.

Description Job Expectations

Emergency Physician bears a responsibility to practice Emergency Medicine in an ethical manner consistent with the hospital vision and rules. Emergency Physicians have a valid medical license and retain a current federal narcotics license number. Emergency Physicians practice emergency medicine within the emergency department, remain in the immediate vicinity of the emergency department and provide the best treatment available to all patients regardless of their age, gender, race, and/or religion. Emergency Physicians maintain current emergency medicine knowledge and skills through independent study and continuing medical education activities and should maintain current BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications. Emergency Physicians exhibit professionalism in the emergency department in regards to behavior, attire, and reliability, and maintain a professional relationship with other health care providers, patients and their families. Emergency Physicians are members of the medical staff and participate in their affairs. Emergency Physicians must maintain knowledge of and compliance with federal and state regulations including EMTALA. Emergency Physicians follow the basic principles of documentation, coding and reimbursement. Emergency Physicians have knowledge of the American College of Emergency Physicians policies and protocols and work within those guidelines. Uses patient handling equipment appropriate to the needs of the individual patient in keeping with the Safe Patient and Handling and Movement Policy. Seeks out needed information by staying informed and involved by attending meetings, reading memos, policies, meeting minutes, newsletters, email and other appropriate information in a timely manner. Reliable attendance and punctuality, including observing appropriate break times and extending a scheduled shift when necessary to meet patient demands Performs duties in a safe manner, in compliance with all safety policies and procedures Complies with the Code of Conduct and all appropriate policies and procedures Other duties, as assigned, that are relevant to the position and department

Benefits

Employed Pay rate of $250-$280.00 per hour Four, 24 hour shifts per month is considered full time and benefit eligible Reimbursement for approved CME sources (including travel expenses) up to $5,000 annually Health insurance coverage (three options available) Employee option to purchase the following: Dental Insurance Short/Long-term Disability Plan Vision Insurance Any other group plan available to all employees Life Insurance coverage at $50,000 with accidental death benefit coverage, (for part-time and full-time hours) Enrollment in the Hospital’s 401k Plan upon completion of eligibility requirements, 1,000 hours per annual year and completion of 1 year of employment. Employer provided malpractice insurance coverage at $1m/$3m. Tail coverage paid upon completion of initial term and remains in force for each subsequent contract.
