  • DESCRIPTION: The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) provides services to assigned patients in accordance with care plans, facility policies and procedures and at the direction of supervisor(s).

  • Duties/Responsibilities: Maintains established hospital policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards, and protocols Maintains a clean, safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with hospital standards. Provides general aspects of care that meet psychosocial or physical needs or both simultaneously, within the nursing assistant’s scope of practice. Meets communication needs of patients. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family. Demonstrates performance reflecting the initiative and responsibility expected of a nursing assistant. Assists in admission, transfer, and discharge of patients. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Maintains confidentiality of protected health information, including verbal, written, and electronic communications. Assist with orientation of new employees Use proper lifting and body mechanics while delivering care to patients and meet the physical demands of the position. Reports changes in a patient’s condition to the patient’s nurse and/or supervisor. Maintains a working knowledge of all equipment used in treatment of patients Maintains and replaces supplies on unit assigned. As a condition of employment, completes all assigned training and skills competency. Performs other duties as assigned, within the Nursing Assistant’s scope of practice.   • Requirements: Physically demanding, high-stress environment Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions Standing and walking for extensive periods of time Ability to assist in evacuation of patients during emergency situations. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting and perform other common physical movements as needed for the position. Dexterity of hands and fingers to perform patient care. Ability to lift, move, push or pull a minimum of 35 pounds. May be subject to falls, burns from equipment, and/or odors throughout the day; encounter reactions from dust, tobacco smoke, disinfectants, and other air contaminants. Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases and/or conditions which include AIDS, Coronavirus, Hepatitis B, and Tuberculosis. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.

  • Skills/Abilities: Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork. Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the public. Must be able to relay information concerning a patient’s condition. May be subject to hostile or emotional patients, family members, visitors or personnel. Must possess leadership, supervisory ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions. Communicates with medical and nursing staff, and other departments. Subject to call-back during emergency conditions. Basic computer skills, including ability to navigate electronic medical record systems. Subject to frequent interruptions. May work beyond normal working hours and on weekends holidays when necessary. In-depth knowledge of long-term care practices and protocols. Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. 1 year prior experience in ER/Med-Surg preferred but not required.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing with the state. Requirements
