About the role

The Registered Nurse will plan, deliver, and evaluate patient care for geriatric psychiatric patients in a short-stay unit. They are responsible for assessing patient status, administering medication, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Cottage Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Ray of Hope Geriatric Psychiatry Unit on a per diem basis. This 10-bed, voluntary short-stay unit specializes in caring for patients age 65+ with mental health needs, offering a supportive and patient-focused environment.

In this role, you will assess patient conditions, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate outcomes within your scope of practice. You will monitor for changes in condition, communicate effectively with providers and the interdisciplinary team, and ensure care is tailored to each patient’s clinical and psychosocial needs.

The RN plays a key role in coordinating care, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining a calm, organized approach in a dynamic setting. Responsibilities include medication administration, documentation, and supporting a safe, therapeutic environment. You will also provide education to patients and families, delegate tasks appropriately, and ensure clear communication across the care team.

This role requires strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to respond appropriately to both routine and urgent situations. Participation in ongoing education, quality initiatives, and team collaboration is expected.

Requirements
