Position Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Imaging Department provides patient-centered nursing care before, during, and after diagnostic and interventional procedures. This role is essential in ensuring patient safety, procedural efficiency, and high-quality outcomes across a variety of imaging services.

Position Details

Employment Type: PRN (as needed) Shift: Day Shift (1st shift; schedule varies) Department: Radiology / Imaging Travel: None required Supervisory Responsibilities: None Compensation: Commensurate with experience Key Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures Prepare and educate patients for procedures, including cardiac stress testing and biopsies Assist physicians and radiology staff with procedures such as thoracentesis, paracentesis, and biopsies Monitor patient condition before, during, and after procedures, responding promptly to changes Administer medications, including IV contrast, in accordance with established protocols Establish and maintain IV access; assist with or perform PICC line placement as appropriate Coordinate care with physicians, technologists, and interdisciplinary team members Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and regulatory standards Maintain accurate and timely documentation

Minimum Qualifications

Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina Certifications: Basic Life Support (CPR) – required within one (1) month of hire Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – required within orientation period Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – required within orientation period Experience: Imaging, procedural, or outpatient nursing experience preferred; cardiac stress testing experience is a plus Core Competencies Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills Effective patient communication and education abilities Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment High attention to detail and commitment to patient safety Professionalism and accountability in all aspects of care Employment Requirements Compliance with all hospital policies, including vaccination requirements (approved exemptions considered) Successful completion of a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening (post-offer)

Requirements

Candidates must hold a current North Carolina Registered Nurse license and obtain BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications. Previous experience in imaging, procedural, or outpatient nursing is preferred.
