Candidates must hold or be eligible for certification as an MLT, MT, or CLS (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent). A CPR certification is also required or must be obtained within twelve months of hire.

Position Overview The Medical Laboratory Professional performs a broad range of laboratory tests across multiple disciplines to support timely and accurate diagnosis. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Employment Type: PRN (as needed) Shift: 12-hour Day Shifts (1st shift; schedule varies) Department: Laboratory Services Travel: None required Supervisory Responsibilities: None Compensation: Commensurate with experience Key Responsibilities Perform moderate- and high-complexity laboratory testing in areas including: Hematology and Coagulation Chemistry Urinalysis Microbiology Blood Bank Ensure proper specimen collection, handling, processing, and reporting Maintain quality control procedures, calibration, and equipment performance Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve testing discrepancies Report critical values promptly and accurately in accordance with protocols Assist with phlebotomy as needed Maintain compliance with safety, infection control, and regulatory standards Document results accurately and in a timely manner
Certification: Eligible for or certified as one of the following: Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT – ASCP or AMT) Medical Technologist (MT – ASCP, AMT, or HEW) Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS – NCA, ASMT, or equivalent) Education: Appropriate laboratory education and training in accordance with federal and state guidelines Certification Requirement: CPR certification required or ability to obtain within twelve (12) months Additional: Must be eligible for MLT certification within twelve (12) months if not already certified Core Competencies Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Critical thinking and problem-solving skills Effective communication and teamwork Commitment to quality, safety, and patient-centered care Employment Requirements Compliance with all hospital policies, including vaccination requirements (approved exemptions considered) Successful completion of a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening (post-offer)
