The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care to obstetrical patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum stages. They monitor maternal and fetal well-being while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and clinical excellence.

Position Overview The Obstetrical Registered Nurse (RN) provides compassionate, skilled nursing care to obstetrical patients and newborns. This role supports patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care, ensuring the highest standards of safety, comfort, and clinical excellence.

Position Details

Employment Type: PRN (as needed) Shift: 2nd Shift, 12-hour shifts Schedule: Varies based on departmental needs Travel: None required Department: Women’s Health Key Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to obstetrical patients throughout labor, delivery, and recovery Monitor maternal and fetal well-being, recognizing and responding to changes in condition Assist physicians and providers during labor, delivery, and postpartum procedures Administer medications and maintain accurate, timely documentation Educate patients and families on postpartum care, newborn health, and recovery Respond effectively to urgent and emergent situations Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care team members to ensure optimal outcomes

Minimum Qualifications

Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) – required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – required within 6 months of hire Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – required within 6 months of hire Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience preferred Core Competencies Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations Clinical judgment and critical thinking abilities Commitment to safety, quality, and professionalism Employment Requirements Compliance with all health and safety policies, including vaccination requirements (approved exemptions considered) Successful completion of a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening (post-offer)

Requirements
