The Registered Nurse provides objective forensic medical evaluations for patients impacted by violence or neglect. This includes the collection of forensic evidence and addressing public health concerns to assist in patient treatment.
On Call 24/7 x 7 days, Off 7 days.
On call regionally for ED forensics.
Providing objective forensic medical evaluation following the scope and standards of forensic nursing practice. The medical forensic exam is an examination of a patient impacted by violence or neglect. The registered nurse performing the examination is required to have specialized education and clinical experience in the collection of forensic evidence and public health concerns to assist in the treatment of these patients.
Candidates must have an Associate degree and at least two years of experience in an emergency department or acute care setting. Required certifications include a valid Registered Nurse license, Heartsaver CPR/AED, and Basic Life Support.
