Participates in patient and family care under the direction of an RN through teamwork and effective communication. Provides support to ensure both the psychiatric and physical care needs of patients are met.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED and either a Psychiatric Technician or Licensed Vocational Nurse certification. Candidates must have at least one year of recent relevant experience.
EDUCATION: HS Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE: PSYT-Psychiatric Technician OR LVN-Licensed Vocational Nurse TYPICAL EXPERIENCE: 1 year recent relevant experience SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses and interventions. Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work in an environment where patients and their families/representatives may be experiencing stress. Ability to work as a team.
