About the Role

• The Behavioral Health Technician plays a critical role in supporting the mental health and well-being of patients by providing direct care and assistance under the supervision of clinical staff.
• This position is essential in implementing individualized treatment plans, conducting clinical assessments, and managing crisis situations to ensure patient safety and progress.
• The technician will maintain accurate and thorough clinical documentation to support continuity of care and compliance with regulatory standards.
• They will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and execute discharge plans that promote successful patient transitions.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Behavioral Health Technician training program or relevant certification preferred.
• Experience in clinical documentation and patient care within a mental health or behavioral health setting.
• Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and ability to respond effectively to emergency situations.
• Familiarity with mental health disorders, including Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED), and related treatment approaches.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in patient care.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in psychology, social work, nursing, or a related field.
• Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or equivalent crisis management training.
• Experience working with pediatric or adolescent populations in behavioral health settings.
• Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems and clinical documentation software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting clinical assessments and monitoring patient behavior to identify needs and progress.
• Provide direct patient care and support, including crisis intervention and management during acute episodes.
• Maintain detailed and accurate clinical documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and discharge plans.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment and discharge plans.
• Support patients with Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED) by applying therapeutic techniques and ensuring a safe environment.
