About the role

The MRI Technologist performs diagnostic scans according to established protocols and ensures patient safety during procedures. They are responsible for troubleshooting MRI systems, starting IVs, and monitoring patients within various clinical environments.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions Scans patients according to protocols and parameters with knowledge of troubleshooting MRI systems. Archives patient exams. Confidently starts IV's. Adapts to different MRI environments (1.5T MRI machines, 3T MRI machines, and MRI machines) in the operating rooms. Functions in different patient monitoring systems throughout the organization. Follows MRI safety guidelines according to organization policy. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills. Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.

Qualifications

  • Licenses Required Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire. One of the following MRI Technologist Certification from the American Registry for Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT). ARRT Registration as Magnetic Resonance Imaging R.T. (MR) (ARRT).
  • Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department. Qualifications (Preferred) Preferred Three (3) years of technical MRI experience. Working Conditions and Physical Demands Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation. This position involves intensive work that may exert up to 100 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects, such as medical equipment, or patients while providing medical care. Physical Requirements Carrying, Climbing, Color Determination, Crawling, Far Vision, Lifting, Listening, Manual Dexterity, Near Vision, Non Indicated, Pulling and/or Pushing, Reaching, Sitting, Speaking, Standing, Stooping and Crouching, Tasting or Smelling, Walking

Requirements

Candidates must hold a current MRI Technologist certification from ARMRIT or ARRT and obtain an RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential within 30 days of hire. Three years of technical MRI experience is preferred to perform the intensive physical duties required for this role.
