The Medical Lab Tech is responsible for operating laboratory equipment, performing maintenance, and ensuring quality control for accurate patient testing. They must also collaborate with medical staff and adhere to proficiency testing requirements to support patient care.
Candidates should have a technical school degree or associate degree in a clinical laboratory field and possess a valid Georgia state license. Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret technical manuals and scientific data are required.
Jeff Davis Hospital - Hazlehurst, GA 315391. Operates all lab equipment as trained. Is competent with performing maintenance and calibrations as necessary. Performs, monitors and approves QC requirements as necessary. 2. Performs patient testing in an appropriate manner such that the quality and accuracy of results are acceptable. Identifies and corrects problems with specimen/instruments that could adversely affect patient care. 3. Participates and successfully passes proficiency testing requirements and special projects as required by manager and/or director. 4. Works cooperatively with co-workers, supervisors, the department manager and physicians to accomplish defined goals. Understands and meets personal accountabilities in a way which supports the success of others. Assists others and addresses conflict constructively.Qualifications A.A. Degree preferred, not required. Completion of one-year of Technical School degree in a course approved by the Georgia Department of Human Resources or qualified as a clinical laboratory technologist under the Georgia Department of Human Resources Rules and Regulations for Licensure of Clinical Laboratory Chapter 290-5-06 Experience preferred Must possess a valid and current license number in the State of Georgia or obtain one within 12 months for out of state, new hires, or new graduates. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and to respond to common inquiries or complaints from patients, regulatory agencies, or member of the community. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis or variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions. Ability to interpret variety of technical instructions in manuals and graphs. BLS/CPR certification, optional.
