About the job
The RN - OR Circulator works alongside surgeons and other healthcare personnel in the operating room. The Circulator documents the events happening during the procedure and ensures that the environment is clean and sterile. We have a very active Surgery Department; the hours are Monday-Friday, starting at 6 am with a rotating call schedule.
Responsibilities
Act as an advocate for the patient before, during, and after surgery.
Monitor and record the patient's vitals pre-operation.
Prepare the surgical tools and materials that the surgical team will need during the operation.
Record every aspect of an operation, including the names and titles of those performing the surgery, the tools used, the amount of anesthetic a patient received and how long the surgery took.
Advise the surgical team on potential harm to the patient during surgery.
Assist surgeons during the surgery if needed.
Escort patients to the recovery room post-operation.
Clean the operating room post-operation.
Account for all tools used during the procedure.
Perform other related work as required or requested.
Job Requirements
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing is required.
Current RN licensure in the State of Illinois is required.
Strong critical thinking skills and a positive attitude are essential.
Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct, have great organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and ancillary staff in various offices.

Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac life Support (ACLS) are required.
Commitment to a professional organization (i.e., ASPAN, AACN, AORN, etc.) is preferred.
Knowledge of Ambulatory Surgery, OR nursing, and operative procedures is strongly preferred.
