The Medical Practice RN assists clinicians by triaging patients, performing assessments, and providing direct patient care such as vaccinations and wound care. They also communicate patient status to the care team and educate patients on preventive care and treatment plans.
The position requires an active RN license and BLS certification within 30 days of hire. Candidates must have at least three years of job-related experience, with five years preferred.

Medical Practice RN, Heart Center department, Poughkeepsie, NY 40 hours per week, 8- hour shifts, Monday-Friday.
To assist the clinician in providing medical care to the patients of the Medical Practice.
1. Triages and assesses patient conditions via phone or in-person consultations. 2. Determines the urgency and type of care required for patients based on assessment. 3. Provides medical advice and guidance based on assessments. 4. Communicates with physicians, nurses and other members of the care team about patient statuses. 5. Prepares materials, supplies, equipment, and the patient to assist the clinician with the patient's medical exam. 6. Obtains the patient's history and medical information. 7. Provides direct patient care, such as ear irrigation, vaccinations and medications, wound care, nurse visits and suture removal. 8. Collects and processes specimens as directed by the clinician and performs point of care testing. 9. Instructs the patient and caregiver on how to perform clinician recommended preventive care, take prescribed medication, prepare for tests, monitor treatment progress, and note symptom changes. 10. Contacts the patient by telephone to provide requested follow-up, advises them of test results or relay a physician's instructions. 11. Performs organizational responsibilities to achieve the practices and organizations missions through a process of total quality improvement. 12. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position. 13. Maintains and models the organizations values. 14. Demonstrates regular, dependable, and predictable attendance. 15. Performs other duties as required. Other Information:
Three years job-related experience, five years job-related experience preferred.
Associate degree preferred. Previous medical office experience preferred.
Active RN license based on state; BLS certification required within 30 days.
