The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for performing preliminary clinical testing and assisting doctors during patient examinations. They also manage administrative tasks such as patient scheduling, exam room preparation, and maintaining office inventory.
Candidates must be able to perform clinical testing and assist with patient procedures while maintaining a clean and safe environment. The role requires the physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 15 lbs.
The Technician fulfills an important role in providing data that is critical to the doctor in order to provide proper care and treatment to each patient. This individual is responsible for various administrative and clinical functions, including obtaining patient histories, performing preliminary and ancillary testing, scheduling patients, preparing the exam room, and assisting the doctors with any exam needs. They ensure the practice’s quality standards are met, while completing specific, essential responsibilities that pertain to the patient’s experience and effective communication.
