The Family Preservation Specialist provides intensive, in-home crisis intervention, counseling, and skill-building to support families at risk of out-of-home placement. They manage a small caseload to ensure child safety and facilitate family reunification using the NJ FPS model.
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in social sciences and possess at least one and a half years of experience working with families in crisis. Additionally, applicants must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance.

The Family Preservation Specialist is responsible for providing intensive, in-home crisis intervention, counseling, and skill-building for families with children at imminent risk of placement or in placement and in need of intensive services to support reunification using the New Jersey Family Preservation Services (FPS) Program Model.
The NJ FPS model is designed to keep children safe, strengthen families, prevent out-of-home placement, and safely reunify children and their family. Family Preservation Specialists carry a caseload of no more than two (2) families at any given time, except during the last week prior to discharging one family, when staff may carry a third (3) case.
