Job Summary

Offers spiritual and emotional support directly to patients and their families, caregivers, and team members. Responsible for assisting with organization of daily activities as assigned.

Job Duties

  • Functions as a member of the team by attending interdisciplinary team conference, support meetings, and other meetings as appropriate
  • Assesses each patient, family member, and caregiver for spiritual needs and concerns in consultation with other team members
  • Provides direct chaplaincy services (when accepted) to patients, family members, and caregivers of different philosophies and religious perspectives
  • Consults, if requested by patient or family, the patient’s clergy of choice and advises them on admission
  • Documents all visits and phone calls in the electronic medical record within an appropriate time frame
  • Provides consultation, counsel, and support to other team members as appropriate
  • Assists with training programs and in-service education as requested

Join Geisinger as a Chaplain and provide compassionate spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members. As part of an interdisciplinary care team, you'll help individuals navigate illness, healing, loss, and life's critical moments while delivering faith-sensitive care in a clinical setting.

Hours: This is a Flex position (per diem, hours as needed). Non-benefits eligible.

Hours will vary based on department staffing needs

Required Experience: Master's Degree in Divinity, Theology, Ministry, or a related field.

Four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education Required

Ordination, Commissioning, or Ecclesiastical Endorsement from a recognized religious organization.

Board Certified Chaplain (Association of Professional Chaplains) within three years of hire.

Requirements

Requires a Master's degree in a related field and 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education. Candidates must have ecclesiastical endorsement and obtain Board Certified Chaplain status within three years of hire.
