The Critical Care Technician supports Registered Nurses by performing direct patient care activities and technical clinical tasks. Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, and performing procedures like blood draws and IV insertions.

Anthony Hospital is a Level I Trauma Center where we provide a full range of medical specialties and health care services to Denver and the surrounding region through our state-of-the-art medical campus and home base for Flight For Life Colorado.

Job Summary and Responsibilities The Critical Care Technician (CCT) plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Working under the direct supervision and in close collaboration with the Registered Nurse (RN), the CCT performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities.

This position requires strong technical skills, compassion, and the ability to maintain a calm and effective demeanor in a fast-paced environment.

The CCT contributes significantly to patient comfort, safety, and the overall efficiency of the care team.

3rd Floor Surgical Unit Description: Welcome to the 3rd floor Med Surg Unit at St.

Anthony Hospital, a Magnet® designated, level one trauma center.

The third floor is a new 16 bed surgical unit specializing in post-operative care for general elective surgical cases.

Our patients have a wide range of diagnoses requiring planned surgical intervention.

A good candidate for the 3rd floor would be someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment and teamwork.

Our surgical unit lends itself to developing great relationships with our coworkers and we work together to provide excellent patient care.

We also pride ourselves in our growth pathways for our staff, and we are a great starting point for someone interested in a future in Critical Care, Emergency medicine and the OR.

Key Responsibilities: Direct Patient Care: Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, feeding, ambulation, turning, repositioning, and personal hygiene.

Assists with patient transfers and mobility, utilizing proper body mechanics and assistive devices.

Monitors and records vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, oxygen saturation) accurately and reports abnormal findings promptly to the RN.

Responds to patient call lights promptly and effectively.

Clinical Support and Technical Skills: Performs venipuncture for blood draws, ensuring proper technique, labeling, and timely delivery of specimens to the laboratory.

Inserts peripheral intravenous (IV) lines, adhering to sterile technique and facility policies.

Obtains 12-lead Electrocardiograms (ECGs), and reports results to the RN.

Assists with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, including gathering patient belongings and preparing rooms.

Performs point-of-care testing (e.g., blood glucose) as delegated and within scope of practice.

Maintains and stocks patient care areas, ensuring adequate supplies and equipment.

Assists with various procedures under the direct supervision of the RN, such as dressing changes, Foley catheter insertion/removal, and specimen collection.

Job Requirements In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified Critical Care Tech candidates will need the following: One year healthcare experience (pre-hospital, ED and/or patient care) preferred Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English Basic computer skills High School Diploma or GED required Current Colorado Emergency Medical Technician-Basic or A-EMT or EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic license required IV certification required upon hire Physical Requirements - Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)

Requirements

Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED and a current Colorado EMT license (Basic, A-EMT, Intermediate, or Paramedic). IV certification is required upon hire, and one year of healthcare experience is preferred.
