The Psychiatric Technician provides a safe and therapeutic environment for psychiatric patients while assisting with basic care needs and activities of daily living. They collaborate with the healthcare team to implement care plans and facilitate group therapy sessions.
Candidates should have an associate's degree or one year of related experience, with a bachelor's degree and healthcare experience preferred. BLS certification is required, and CPI certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
The Psychiatric Technician is responsible for providing a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for psychiatric patients, and to assist with the provision of basic patient care needs. In cooperation with other health team members, the Psychiatric Technician participates in implementing a care plan designed to meet the specific therapeutic goals of the patient. Some physical labor is involved related to assisting patients with bathing, various ADLs, stocking supplies, belongings or during acute situations e.g., physical holds/restraints.
