Urgent Care Veterinarian - Old Orchard

Scout Veterinary Urgent Care·Illinois

Full Time·On Site·2-5 yrs·Posted 1 month ago
Practice for this role

About the role

Deliver high-quality urgent care medicine by managing patient triage, evaluations, and treatments for scheduled and walk-in appointments. Coordinate with primary care veterinarians and referral partners to ensure comprehensive follow-up care and patient stabilization.

Scout Veterinary Urgent Care is changing the way pets receive care and empowering the teams that provide it. We offer same-day and next-day urgent care appointments to truly fill the gap between routine primary care and the ER. We see a wide variety of urgent appointments while being extremely clear about what we don’t do; this positions Scout to help more sick and injured pets each day while providing a fulfilling, sustainable career for professionals and being an excellent partner in our community. Our modern practices and thoughtful processes are designed to make life easier for our teams and navigating veterinary care easier for the city’s ever-growing pet population.

About the Role

This veterinarian will support our Old Orchard clinic (9410-A Skokie Blvd, Skokie, IL 60077).

At Scout, it is important that each clinic provides excellent care, sustains a healthy culture and is supported to deliver the Scout experience. As an urgent care doctor at Scout, you will be a key part of our team.

Scout doctors manage approximately 10-18 patients daily, with the excitement varying based on case volume. Your expertise will be put to the test, handling cases that span from routine last-minute care to more intricate cases that require in-house diagnostics, treatments, and nursing care. The heartbeat of our caseload lies in true urgent care cases and stable emergencies.

Scout equips our teams with all the tools to thoroughly assess and stabilize any patient that comes through our doors. While overnight hospitalization and major surgeries are not in our playbook, minor procedures are common, bringing challenge, variety, and excitement to each day.

Recognizing that urgent care is often just the initial chapter in a pet's medical narrative, Scout takes pride in empowering our doctors to explore the comprehensive answers our patients and clients both need and deserve. We actively foster robust relationships with referral partners to ensure our doctors have a wealth of resources at their fingertips when pets and clients require assistance beyond the bounds of Scout's doors.
