The Orthopaedic Phone Nurse assesses patient needs and coordinates care through professional phone-based communication and EMR documentation. The role also involves managing medical paperwork and cross-training in clinic nursing duties to support physician workflows.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited nursing school with current Illinois licensure and CPR certification. One year of clinical experience and the ability to travel to satellite clinics are preferred.
The Orthopaedic Phone Nurse supports providers in delivering high‑quality patient care within a busy orthopaedic practice. This role utilizes strong critical‑thinking skills and clinical judgment to assess patient needs, provide guidance, and coordinate care through effective phone‑based communication. Responsibilities include thorough documentation in the EMR, assisting patients and providers with timely and accurate information, and ensuring all communication is conducted professionally and respectfully.
The Orthopaedic Phone Nurse will cross‑train in Orthopaedic Office/Clinic Nurse duties and maintain familiarity with physician workflow, hospital resources, and community support options to best meet the needs of patients. This position also manages paperwork such as FMLA, Short‑Term Disability, and Workers’ Compensation forms, and follows all Wabash General Hospital policies related to patient care, safety, and confidentiality.
