Description Provides direct and indirect patient care in the clinic setting. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility, and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with minimum supervision. Communicates with office physicians about changes in the patient's status, symptomatology and results of diagnostic studies. The individual in this position needs to be able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.

- Graduate of an accredited School of Vocational Nursing or an accredited Medical Assistant training program. Current licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse by the Texas Board of Nursing or certified/registered Medical Assistant Previous experience in general nursing preferred; previous experience in a family practice setting highly desired. - Provides direct patient care under the supervision of an RN, evaluates outcomes, consults with other health team members as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
- Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment, under the supervision of a RN, on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population.
- Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
- Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patients served.
