The Specimen Accessioner is responsible for the receipt and processing of specimens, including entering patient information into the laboratory system and preparing specimens for analysis. The role also involves examining specimens for adequacy and assisting with clerical functions as assigned.
A high school education is preferred for this position. Candidates should possess strong attention to detail, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsible for the receipt and processing of specimens. Enters patient demographic and testing information into the laboratory information system. Examines specimens for adequacy. Labels specimens and prepares aliquots. Delivers specimens to proper laboratory departments for analysis. Assists with other data entry and clerical functions as assigned.
Requires an ability to focus and an attention to accuracy and detail; must display interpersonal, and diplomacy skills and work well as part of a team; must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and see tasks through to completion.
