Conducts clinical intake assessments to determine medical appropriateness for admission and coordinates with physicians and staff for patient placement. Manages the prior authorization process and maintains all documentation related to patient admissions.
Facilitates intake, admission, and prior authorization process for incoming patients. Reviews referrals, communicates with referral source and staffs each possible patient for admission with the on call physician. Performs insurance benefit verification. Provide information gathered to patient, their families, and appropriate internal staff. Performs accurate and ongoing assessment of patients’ status in the admission process. Facilitate communication regarding request for services that involves the assessment and referral process, intake into services, and appropriate follow up activity. Schedules/complete pre-admission assessments and communicates recommendations to patients and their families. Maintains all documentation involved within the admission process. Participates in daily shift reports through in-person, virtual, or telephonic for Good Hope Hospital. Provides crisis intervention consultation to all members of the team All other duties as assigned by center/regional directors. Special Attributes: Strong psychosocial, clinical assessment skills. Minimal supervision regarding use of time, able to prioritize work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively with varied professions and clients/families. Education and/or Experience: Prefer Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling, psychology, mental health or related field required or registered nurse, in which, an associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in nursing is required. Associates Degree in Nursing is allowable with appropriate RN licensure. One or more years of experience in mental/behavioral health working with individuals in a clinical capacity preferred or one or more years of experience as an intake clinician. Experience in managed care precertification process, level of care assessments and utilization preferred. Experience in clinical interviewing, patient assessment, referral, treatment planning, communicating with external parties preferred. Great interpersonal and assessment skills as well as telephone etiquette and paging procedures. Registered Nurse will be given priority hiring. Experience will be given consideration in addition to required education. Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a mental health field or a nursing degree (RN licensure preferred). Prefers one or more years of experience in behavioral health clinical intake or managed care precertification.
