The therapist promotes healthy behavioral patterns and coping mechanisms through individual and group therapeutic modalities. They are responsible for patient assessment, treatment planning, and maintaining detailed clinical documentation.
A bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field is required. Candidates must have at least two years of mental health experience, which can include one year obtained through an internship.
The goal of a mental health therapist is to promote functioning behavioral patterns within patients by helping them find their own healthy coping mechanism, establish advantageous behavior and maintain rational thought process. This is to be achieved as part of a treatment team through individual and group methods in which they physical and psychological stability of the patient is the focus.
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, mental health counseling or related field with a minimum of 2 years of mental health experience.
One year of experience in related field. This year can be obtained through an internship.
1. Assists in the assessment and treatment planning of assigned patients.
2. Provides a variety of therapeutic treatment modalities including group, individual, couples, family and crisis counseling. This includes therapeutic interactions with patient’s family members during visiting hours.
3. Maintains adequate documentation consisting of case notes, psychosocials, ED admission paperwork, and additional procedural documentation when necessary. All records will be in agreement with facility and state regulations.
4. Provides effective and immediate crisis intervention which might involve using physical control if patient is unable to control their behavior.
5. Participates in mandated meetings including treatment team, staff, unit council and educational activities as so defined by Program Director.
6. Actively partakes in a team building environment with flexibility and a positive demeanor.
