The Emergency Veterinarian provides immediate medical and surgical care to animals in urgent health crises to stabilize patients. They are responsible for conducting diagnostic tests, managing critical care, and communicating treatment plans to pet owners.

Columbia Pike Animal Hospital & Emergency Center is a dynamic hybrid veterinary practice featuring more than 20 veterinarians, a robust Internship Program, and a collaborative team environment dedicated to exceptional patient care. Located in Northern Virginia, our hospital offers convenient access to Tysons Corner, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., providing the perfect balance of professional opportunity and vibrant metropolitan living.

For more than 50 years, we have remained one of the few large, privately owned emergency veterinary hospitals in the region. Our 24/7 facility combines the fast-paced, challenging environment of Emergency and Critical Care medicine with the continuity and relationship-building of General Practice, creating a unique and rewarding experience for veterinarians seeking to expand their clinical skills.

Our size and diverse caseload provide exceptional learning and mentorship opportunities. With a team of experienced clinicians across multiple disciplines, interns and associates benefit from daily collaboration, case discussions, and hands-on experience managing a wide variety of medical and surgical cases. We are also located within 10–15 miles of several specialty referral centers, allowing for close professional relationships and access to advanced specialty care when needed.

CPAH is equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment technology, including CT, High Flow Oxygen, digital radiography, ultrasound, comprehensive in-house laboratory, and a fully stocked pharmacy. Emergency veterinarians are supported by highly skilled licensed veterinary technicians and support staff allowing you to focus on diagnostics, case management, and clinical decision-making. Our culture emphasizes mentorship, teamwork, and continuous learning, creating an ideal setting for both early-career and experienced emergency clinicians.

  • What We're Looking For
  • DVM or VMD degree from an accredited veterinary school
  • Licensed, or eligible for licensure, to practice veterinary medicine in Virginia
  • Experience in, or a strong interest in, Emergency and Critical Care medicine
  • Confidence in diagnostics, emergency procedures, and rapid clinical decision-making
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to delivering outstanding patient care and client service

Requirements
