Candidates must possess an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science and be licensed in the State of Louisiana. Prior experience in a clinical or hospital laboratory setting is preferred.

Assist with diagnostic testing to support patient care and treatment by preparing specimens, performing routine laboratory procedures, maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate data entry under the direction of the Laboratory Director.

1. Collect, label, and prepare patient specimens (e.g. blood, urine, tissue) for testing 2. Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids, including blood, urine, tissue, etc. to determine presence of normal or abnormal components 3. Follow the laboratory procedure for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, and reporting 4. Analyze laboratory findings to check the accuracy of the results. Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problem or immediately notify the Laboratory Director. 5. Establish or monitor quality assurance programs or activities to ensure the accuracy of laboratory results 6. Record and report test results clearly and accurately in the hospital’s electronic health record system 7. Maintain records that demonstrate the proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples. 8. Adhere to the laboratory quality control policies; document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed. 9. Operate and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment, including troubleshooting issues as needed 10. Follow established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established acceptable levels of performance. 11. Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications. 12. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide diagnostic support 13. Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., CLIA, HIPAA, etc.) 14. Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards 15. Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of patient information through all laboratory processes 16. All other duties as assigned
Must possess an Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field. Must be licensed in the State of Louisiana.
Prior experience in a clinical or hospital laboratory setting is preferred.
A Have exposure to blood borne pathogens.
