• Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Oncology – Lorain Hospital THIS IS A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT POSITION Shift/Schedule Full Time - Scheduled for 36 Weekly Hours Shift Times - Nights (7pm-7:30am) Rotating Weekends & Holidays General Summary: Functioning as the leader of the Care Delivery Team, the Clinical Nurse I (CN I) assumes the responsibility of directing care for a team of patients, using the CN II as a resource.
• The nursing care reflects independent assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient’s physical, psychological, and sociocultural needs.
• Demonstrates competencies essential in the use of all equipment utilized in the care of patient age groups as indicated.
• A CN I is the entry step to the Mercy (CHP) Clinical Ladder.
• The CN I has one year to progress to the CN II level.
• Minimum Knowledge and Skills, Etc.: Graduation from a state-accredited school of nursing.
• Current licensure from the state of Ohio as a Registered Nurse and current BLS/CPR certification.
• Successful completion of general and unit-specific orientation and hospital probationary period.
• Completes Orientation Checklist.
• Obtains/maintains a minimum of 12 contact hours of continuing education annually which includes Fire Safety & CPR/BLS Recertification.
• Must have theoretical knowledge combined with beginning level clinical experience in providing nursing care for a variety of patients.
• Must be able to communicate well verbally and in writing with people of varying backgrounds.
• Working Conditions: Moderate level of physical exertion required.
• Occasional exposure to adverse conditions.
• Reporting Relationships: Responsible to Nurse Manager, or in his/her absence, the Administrative Supervisor.
• May receive direct instructions from CN II or Charge Nurse.
• Workers supervised: Licensed Practical Nurses and Patient Care Assistants.
