Responsible for the gross examination of routine tissues and processing frozen section specimens. Serves as the primary prosector for autopsies, handling both dissection and dictation.
Requires graduation from an approved Pathologists' Assistant program and ASCP board of registry certification. Must be able to handle deceased patients, chemical vapors, and biological hazards.
Responsible for the 'Gross' examination of all routine tissues; processing frozen section specimens for the Pathologist; provides dissection assistance in the Frozen Section Laboratory after the case has initially been assessed by the Pathologist; primary prosector for autopsies, responsible for dissection and dictation for autopsy cases.
