Job Summary

The Mental Health Clinician in a NYS OMH–certified MOHTRS Program provides individual and group psychotherapy and crisis intervention services to adults experiencing acute mental health crises in community-based and outpatient settings. As a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team, the Mental Health Clinician conducts psychosocial assessments, delivers evidence-based therapeutic interventions, supports crisis stabilization, and promotes continuity of care and diversion from emergency department and inpatient hospitalization when clinically appropriate. Services are delivered in accordance with NYS OMH regulations, agency policies, and principles of trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and culturally responsive care.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

• Conduct psychosocial and mental health assessments, including evaluation of presenting problems, risk factors, strengths, and clinical needs.
• Provide individual and group psychotherapy using evidence-based and recovery-oriented treatment modalities appropriate for individuals in crisis.
• Participate in crisis intervention and stabilization services, including suicide and violence risk assessment, safety planning, and short-term therapeutic support.
• Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment team.
• Provide ongoing therapeutic support to assist individuals in symptom reduction, emotional regulation, coping skills development, and recovery goals.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and other team members regarding clinical presentation, treatment progress, and care coordination.
• Coordinate with hospitals, emergency departments, community providers, and referral sources to support continuity of care and diversion from higher levels of care when appropriate.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences, treatment team meetings, and clinical consultations.
