About the Role

The primary purpose of the Medical Technologist – Hematology is to independently perform both routine and complex laboratory analyses with precision and accuracy. This role is responsible for ensuring procedural and system controls, troubleshooting and problem-solving, as well as contributing to teaching and supervision under the direction of leadership. Technologists provide physicians with timely, accurate, and reliable results that are essential for the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do Perform and demonstrate proficiency in routine and complex laboratory testing in accordance with SOPs and departmental standards. Thoroughly process, analyze, and report results, including timely communication of critical values (within 15 minutes) and prioritization of STAT specimens. Conduct and document quality control procedures; identify, troubleshoot, and resolve deviations or equipment issues. Perform scheduled equipment calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting; log all actions per SOP. Prepare, maintain, and monitor reagent and supply inventory; ensure proper storage and prevent workflow interruptions. Participate in teaching and training programs for students and staff as needed. Maintain productivity standards while adhering to hospital compliance, safety, and regulatory requirements. Stay current with federal, state, and institutional regulations and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or a related field (required). ASCP certification or equivalent preferred.
