About the role

The technician will support the Radiation Oncology team by monitoring anesthesia and creating individualized anesthetic protocols. Responsibilities include performing diagnostic imaging, managing patient records in EMR, and providing high-quality client communication.

VCA Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center of Kalamazoo is excited to be launching its new Radiation Oncology Service and is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician for our new team!

Our Radiation Oncology Service: At VCA VSECK, our radiation oncology team designs an individualized treatment plan for each pet patient using the most advanced and effective treatments available – much like those used in human medicine.

With Varian TrueBeam™ technology at VCA VSECK, we are committed to the future of radiation therapy for our patients.

We provide definitive intent and palliative intent radiation treatments as well as quality of life monitoring.

Skills that our technicians will utilize, but are not limited to: Anesthesia monitoring Creating individualized anesthetic protocols in collaboration with Radiation Oncologist Collecting patient histories Client communication via phone and email Discharging patients Physical examinations and patient assessment Venipuncture/IVC placement Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging Hands free radiology Pharmacy Patient recovery Obtaining records Scheduling patients in EMR Work collaboratively with team members of all hospital services Schedule: Full-time, 5x 8 hours shifts, weekdays (Monday-Friday) Compensation: $26 - $34 / based on skill set and experience.

Requirements

Candidates must be a Licensed Veterinary Technician proficient in anesthesia administration and monitoring. Strong organizational, teamwork, and communication skills are required to maintain a low-stress environment for patients and clients.
