The IV Technician is responsible for compounding and preparing sterile intravenous medications for patients and long-term care facilities. This includes maintaining strict aseptic techniques, performing quality control checks, and monitoring pharmaceutical inventory.
Candidates must have a high school diploma and at least two years of experience in sterile compounding. Proficiency in aseptic techniques and knowledge of USP 797 standards are required, while CPhT certification is preferred.
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented IV Technician to join our team at Medwiz Pharmacy. The IV Technician will play a crucial role in the compounding and preparation of sterile intravenous medications for long-term care facilities and patients. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in sterile compounding techniques, adherence to safety protocols, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
Sterile Compounding: Prepare sterile intravenous medications according to established protocols and procedures. This includes accurately measuring ingredients, compounding medications, and ensuring proper labeling and documentation. Quality Assurance: Perform routine inspections and quality control checks to ensure the integrity and sterility of compounded medications. Follow strict aseptic techniques and maintain cleanliness in the compounding area to prevent contamination. Inventory Monitoring: Monitor inventory levels of compounding supplies and medications, and assist in the ordering and stocking of pharmaceutical products. Keep accurate records of inventory transactions and expiration dates.
Adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines governing pharmacy practice, including USP 797standards for sterile compounding. Stay informed about updates and changes in regulations to ensure compliance.
· High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a pharmacy technician training program preferred. · Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification is a plus. · Minimum of two years of experience in sterile compounding, preferably in a pharmacy or healthcare setting. · Proficiency in aseptic techniques and sterile compounding procedures. · Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication preparation and documentation. · Excellent organizational and time-management skills. · Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks accordingly. · Knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and standards governing sterile compounding. · Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
