A high school diploma or equivalent is required, while a degree in psychology or a related field is preferred. Previous experience in behavioral health care for patients and families is desired.

Contributing to the Hospital's mission involves addressing the needs of behavioral health patients. This role entails performing various direct and indirect patient care duties in collaboration with ED Clinical staff, ensuring effective teamwork to enhance the delivery of quality patient care. Key responsibilities include: Maintaining a solid understanding of hospital policies, protocols, and procedures. Recognizing signs and symptoms of psychiatric diagnoses, including drug and alcohol withdrawal, and applying appropriate therapeutic interventions to prevent patient escalation. Monitoring patient safety and promoting a positive, age-appropriate therapeutic and educational atmosphere. Utilizing approved de-escalation techniques and interventions. Responding to patient care needs, assisting with personal hygiene, and supporting daily living activities. Collaborating with nursing staff to address patient nursing needs. Assisting in the transfer process for patients entering and leaving the ED, ensuring safety and monitoring patient belongings. Acting as a role model for other staff members. Demonstrating knowledge of and respect for patient rights and privacy issues. Promoting professional relationships among ED staff, psychiatric clinicians, and patient collaterals. Functioning in the ED Tech role as needed for patient care.
Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
